Movie Conventions Research: The Hangover What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie   have?   What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?  What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?      In The Hangover this film contains an abundance of farce comedy. Some scenes also use physical comedy, for instance, the actors are all drunk after a night out in Vegas and are always falling and crashing into objects. In one of the scenes one of the characters accidentally drives their car into a police car and tries to escape. This led to a series of slapstick mishaps. Another convention used in the scenes is the improbable situations the characters went through. To further elaborate, the characters went through highly improbable situations that they have to navigate from. One scene that displayed this was the characters ending up on top of the roof trapped with a tiger, which they must tranquilize and trans

The film also uses satire the film satirizes the idea of grown men who refuse to grow up and act like adults and pokes fun at the way society hates them. The film also uses absurdity in many ways as over-the-top humor in many of the film's scenes. This film also contains many scenes that display these conventions. All the scenes have a convention scene in them. The characters also display character-based humor the humor comes from there lead characters Brennan and Dale with their child-like personalities. The film uses this classic convention of creating characters w

Star Wars

Movie Conventions Research: Star wars What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie   have?   What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?  What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?  Many hero's' journeys provide specific tell tales that shadow the viewer what is happening. For instance, whenever there is a protagonist there is a backstory to what they have trouble with. These elements would consist of the character's struggles, daily life, and routines also known as "the ordinary world." The movie I chose that relates to this would be Star Wars. In this movie, Luke expresses a sense of dissatisfaction with his life and yearns to leave the planet to become a pilot like his friends. Setting also plays a key role in the development of a hero's journey. Relating back to stars wars I noticed the setting of Tatooine is depicted as a harsh and desolate place where danger lurks

Genre decision

There are many different genres of films that my group and I reviewed and looked over. The genres we went over were action, comedy, and mystery. Understanding what these genres are is very important to the development of the recreational movie that we're subjected to create. After gathering information about the action we concluded that the production makes one is very action-packed as it is in the title. Camera angles, sounds, and transitions are very intense in these films. To mimic this, it will require extra planning ahead for what props, sounds, and plans for post-development regarding the editing process. Quick transitions, loud bangs, and claps tell the audience that it is indeed an action movie. My group and I rather strayed away from this genre as it did not fit our theme. We then looked at comedy to see what it brought to the table. Countless comedic-packed films never fail to amuse my partner and me or others. Additionally, we observed that comedic movies contained mostl

Our pitch

Image
Pitch 1: After an advanced and professional murder in a confined area a group of tenants works together to identify the murderer.  Pitch 2: After refusing the spouse's pleas for a puppy, he/she caved and accepted the offer to purchase a puppy. During training and destroying their house along with other destructive things as a young pup. As the pup grows older the man/woman who didn't want the dog eventually ended up loving the dog dearest.  Based off of pitch one we believe it would be easy to execute and follow through with the general idea of a murder mystery because it is simple to understand. Continuing our project based off of pitch one is possible. The setting of pitch one is also important because it can help throughout the film. We have access to possible locations to film. Along with locations other things working on our side are the people it wouldn't look good or well played out with only the 2 people. Because murder mysteries always have upwards of 10. Based o

We're ready to get started

Exciting news, I am going to be working in a group again! I will be working with the same partner I worked with in my last project, featuring the Christmas music video. Sean completed all of the work in the last project on time and we both collaborated greatly. Whenever we were confused about a task we worked together, using our problem-solving skills. This will be great moving forward and that is why I am choosing to work with him for this project. My group and I have already started brainstorming for this project which is already a good sign. In the last project, my partner displayed the great skill of responsibility. Not only did Sean complete his work, but completed all of his blogs on time, helped with research, and brainstormed ideas. With this extra help, we were able to use these ideas and incorporate them into our music video on time and achieve our grade. Sean has displayed great responsibility. Doing his own work when necessary, allowed both of us to have flexible schedules

I'm back!

Hello, I am finally back! I'm still shocked at how long it has been since I wrote a blog. The last blog I wrote about was for my previous project. I teamed up with a friend on this project and formulated a group to knock it down. My group and I were instructed to create a music video and we couldn't wait to do it. Since it was during the holiday season, I found it only right to make a Christmas-themed music video. After brainstorming all the bunch of ideas that I could do, I got right on top of it. I started by researching previous Christmas music videos that are very well-known and picked up traits and actions used to incorporate them into my own. This was a very fun process as well as a learning curve as I never made a music video before. Despite all the fun, there were some cons. As it was my first time making a music video it was also my first time working in a group on this matter. I further learned that my partner and I had very different schedules, one day I'd be fre
