Creative Critical Reflection

 1. My music video challenges conventions by introducing a panning shot of a Christmas tree to begin the clip. In this clip there it was day time, exposing all the features and ornaments on the tree. This film gives the conception that it is the holiday season and it’s the time of giving and to be joyful. There was multiple locations used in this music video. For instance, the mall, and the beach were two of the locations to show that there is joy all around. The actors in this music video wear comfy clothing, such as hoodies since during the holidays it is most commonly cold. To portray this, the actor walked toward the Christmas tree furthermore demonstrating joyfulness. By doing so, it creates a stigma in the viewers mind to get into the holiday spirit. 2. My music video engages the audience by getting ahold of their awareness with multiple panning, B-roll, and zooming in to out shots. Showing off the decorations and people around it, it demonstrates it is during the holiday season.

Music video carey

Finally! I have finished filming and editing this Christmas-themed music video. With the help of my group member, it has made it a fun and interesting experience. Coming across many difficulties throughout this project it feels more rewarding to have finished this. Everything from the filming, to the editing process, was definitely an adventure and I would love to do it again.

Its Finally Over!

Coming to the end of this music video I thoroughly enjoyed the filming process. Without the help of my brother being behind the camera, I would not have been able to film all of these scenes. My group partner has also filmed his scenes and sent them to me. Prior to him sending them to me he made sure to call me to confirm what scenes he should be recording and what I already did. After he sent me the videos I got right to editing. I realized that my group partner completely disregarded some of the things I said and did not film some of the scenes I asked. For instance, I would've liked to have him dancing in one of the scenes. Instead, there were just panning shots. I am still grateful although it shows that it is the holidays and gives me extra clips to edit. I decided to incorporate his 3 scenes containing B-roll, and panning left to right shots. His scenes acquired many decorations which create a holiday mood in the video. Putting his clips first and then transitioning to other

Behind the Scenes

The filming process was going very smoothly. In the first scene, I planned to walk through the mall's electric sliding doors, making sure to have a clear opening shot for the viewer's eye. I walked over to a big Christmas tree that the mall had. This tree seemed to be a popular attraction as there were many people around it, either taking pictures or simply gazing. The shoppers of the mall made it slightly difficult to get simple panning-down shots of the tree as there were people everywhere including those walking into the camera frame. After achieving B-roll shots of the Christmas decorations it was my time to step back into the music video. Two scenes consisted of me walking around the mall. When walking around the mall I made it clear that I was observing my surroundings which were decoration filled. The second scene, contains me walking up to the tree and clearly viewing it from top to bottom. Giving a hint to the people who will be watching that I am in awe and starting

There is a Solution!

Image
It is currently Saturday. I woke up today with a text from my group member about what we're going to film. After the conversation concerning the parts about what is being filmed, I learned that my partner cannot film today either. My partner's schedule is very tight and relying on him is making it detrimental to me. Keeping in mind that this project is due very soon we still have not had anything filmed at this point. I am now getting anxious and frustrated about what my group and I are going to have to do now. My group members' tight schedule has truly made it a detriment to my time and future plans I had. Finally, my group member and I decided to film by ourselves. After we both film whenever possible, I will edit all of the clips to make it one sequence to flow smoothly with the music video. Since I was already set for Saturday I figured that I should film the first couple of scenes at the mall. Despite going to film, I had to get my brother to be the cameraman to help

I am Frustrated on a Tight Schedule

This past week has been very interesting. Hey, the original plans for filming the music video with my group partner have shifted. We were not able to film on Saturday as planned since I got very ill. For the whole week, I was unable to get off my bed. This has made it difficult for us to film at the mall or even set up a date or time I can film. My group and I needed to come up with a solution as soon as possible. After numerous conversations with my group, we settled to film on Thursday. The plan now is to go to Broward mall and film the scenes, then on Friday, I would be able to edit it into one. After finally having everything planned out, my stress was relieved and I was prepared to film. Sadly, on the day of filming, my group partner says that he cannot film at all on the intended day. Having this in mind, this created a stump on my further plans with this music video and other personal activities. Luckily, we decided to film tomorrow which is Saturday. Hopefully, there will be no

Future Plans

Hey its me again! I am getting closer to filming day-which is on Saturday. I have been brainstorming with my group for what we're planning to do. For a Christmas song the main goal is to make the viewers get into the holiday season spirit and be jolly. Not only will overlapping the song of choice to our video but dancing, prancing, or even singing along should achieve this. I figured this out from personal experience over my lifetime. For instance, when music is playing and an individual starts to dance, usually another person will join them which later turns into a group of them. According to this, the same impact will apply to the viewers. When watching other Christmas music videos, I observed that its mainly nostalgia and giving back that gives it a happy mood. To further elaborate, these music videos use pathos by visiting family members/friends and doing random activities with them. Additionally, giving gifts to children or randomly handing out candy also shows that it is

The Fun is about to Begin

My group and I are planning to film this music video soon. I currently am organizing where we are planning to go. For the music video I've chose a Christmas themed genre and I want to try and incorporate a festive spirit into it.   The main goal is to find a location that has lights, a Christmas tree, fake snow, etc. Luckily, it is beginning to close in on the holidays so public places should have these props and elements. After figuring out where my partner is located near we will be able to determine a place. As of now, I'm thinking about filming at a mall. Most malls have Christmas decorations around the holidays. Because it is an indoor mall, we are safe from harsh weather conditions that may occur or intervene during filming. If I go on the right day, Santa may be at the mall as he usually takes pictures and hands out candy canes to the kids. This will be perfect for the music video since it will then clearly direct what the video is going to be about. My partner and I ha
