Group Blog



Its me again! For this commercial I am not working in a group for varied number of reasons. The reasons for this include that all my friends and classmates has already had the time to pick their partners and who they wanted to work with. This stunted me as they had already written their group blogs and are not able to change or add another group member. Adding a member such as me into their group can also slow them down potentially missing due dates of other blogs or even the development of the commercial. In the process of being in a group everyone must find the time to all meet up and complete the commercial. This can be a complication for some as they may be busy at the time another individual is free. I was switched into the class not too long ago; this made it even more difficult to find a group. By the time I started to do the assigned work everyone had already been partnered up planning for their commercial. This had left me no choice other than to do it individually. I do not find this as a problem since I do not have any liabilities. I can rely on myself for completing my research and production for the blogs and commercial. This also makes it easier as this enables me to work on my schedule, allowing me to film whenever. I am also capable of recording, editing, and plan the commercial by myself. In addition to this I have friends that can participate in the creation of my commercial while I film. Working individually may be a bit more challenging. To elaborate, I would need to figure out what I want to do for my commercial not getting any ideas from others. This makes it more of a challenge to complete the storyboard and brainstorm ideas. I have already looked at a few other commercials/ads to gain an idea of what to generate. Thankfully enough, I trust myself to display my skill of being innovative to create this commercial.

There is a Solution!

 It is currently Saturday. I woke up today with a text from my group member about what we're going to film. After the conversation concerning the parts about what is being filmed, I learned that my partner cannot film today either. My partner's schedule is very tight and relying on him is making it detrimental to me. Keeping in mind that this project is due very soon we still have not had anything filmed at this point. I am now getting anxious and frustrated about what my group and I are going to have to do now. My group members' tight schedule has truly made it a detriment to my time and future plans I had. Finally, my group member and I decided to film by ourselves. After we both film whenever possible, I will edit all of the clips to make it one sequence to flow smoothly with the music video. Creative Critical Reflection

  1. My commercial challenges conventions by the opening of a panning shot. I have used the luminescent light coming from the school board sign for realistic lighting. My film represents the student class, establishing students attending to school use the product. The location displays the environment that this product can be used in. My actor has shown, pants, shirt, backpack, and shoes to portray this. By implementing this as well as having some dramatic shots, it makes the viewer want the apparel to use, targeting students mainly but not limited to.  2. My product engages with the audience by grabbing their attention with various detail zoom shots, to panning. Showing off the brand, it shows the many uses that it has. This can be distributed in the real media text as it is visually appealing. Nowadays people have a lower attention span making fast pace videos with intense shots more interesting.  3. What’s the plan now?

    Nothing good comes easy. This is the quote keeping my motivation up. The reason I’m even thinking about this quote is because the filming dates are constantly being delayed. Unfortunately, not only does my group member and I have other work for classes but so we are busy in our daily lives. We are trying to come up with a solution so that we can accumulate together and film. We still need to look into a specific park to go to. Something along the lines next to our school or my partners house may work. It is important for it to be a spacious park so that the puppy can run around and play it’s part to act wild and free. The act of the dog being wild and free will irritate one of the characters, as mentioned in my script. This will be the introduction of the plot. My partner lives near the school.
